1. Structure-function studies of the peptide transporter Ptr2p. Currently we are utilizing site-directed mutagenesis of residues in the 5th transmembrane domain of the transporter to detemine which are essential for protein function and substrate recognition.

2. Structure-function studies of the pheromone receptor Ste2p. Currently we are mapping the solvent accessibility of residues in the first extracellular loop by Cys-scanning mutagenesis coupled with the scanning cysteine availability method (SCAM).

I work on C. albicans mating pheromone receptor Ste2p, using S. cerevisiae expression system to make life easier. I’m interested in the molecular nature of receptor and its interaction with peptide ligand, and in the importance of C. albicans mating for interaction with host.

My research focuses on identification and characterization of ligand receptor interaction and binding properties of peptide ligands to G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) by applying photo-affinity cross-linking with p-benzoyl phenylalanine containing pheromone analogs.

Postdoctoral Fellow

I study the yeast peptide transporter, Ptr2p. My work so far has focused on the post-translational regulation of this peptide transporter.

Research on systematical investigation on the regulation of di-/tri-peptide utilization using Yeast Deletion Mutant Library. My goal is to identify the genes involved in the regulation of dipeptide utilization in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and specifically to uncover the regulatory mechanisms of the Ptr2p peptide transporter and the related cellular processes in dipeptide utilization.

I am studying the mating system of S. cerevisiae as a model system of peptide hormone/pheromone biology. Hormones play a vital role in the regulation of cellular activity. An understanding of the interaction between a hormone and its receptor is necessary for comprehending signal transduction/intercellular communication.
