BSF Services
The Biology Service Facility provides scientific instrument services for the Biology faculty and staff in the College of Liberal Arts, but is often able to deliver services to other segments of the University community. Fees charged are kept as low as possible for each of the services delivered.
Priorities
The BSF is oriented first to the maintenance of scientific laboratory equipment and has as its main goals minimizing equipment repair time, holding down repair costs, and providing service superior in quality to that available from local vendors at a lower cost. In the interest of meeting those goals, the following priorities have been established.
- Maintenance of hardware or systems specifically used in day-to-day teaching activities.
- Maintenance of hardware or systems specifically used in day-to-day research activities.
- Construction of hardware or systems specifically used for day-to-day teaching activities.
- Construction of hardware or systems specifically used for day-to-day research activities.
Billing
For each project accepted by the BSF, a detailed job sheet will be created. Users can expect to receive, at the time of billing, a copy of the service report which will detail all costs of materials and labor. Note that no project will be accepted by the BSF until the job sheet has been completed to indicate the account number to be billed.

The Biology Service Facility is located on the ground floor of the Austin Peay building. Specific locations are as follows:

Other Information
The BSF has established working relationships with major instrument vendors (e.g., Beckman, Perkin Elmer, Baxter, Revco, etc.) which may expedite receiving parts and service. The BSF has also been approved as a warranty service center for a number of instrument manufacturers.
