Welcome to General Biology!
Our faculty, support staff and graduate teaching assistants are dedicated to introducing students to the world of Biology. Ask questions, challenge conventions, be skeptical, demand more of us – we’ll all grow and learn together.
General Biology manages the following courses:
- Biology 101/102 (Humankind in the Biotic World (for non-majors))
- Biology 111/112 (General Botany)
- Biology 130 (Biodiversity)
- Biology 140 (Organization and Function of the Cell)
- Biology 240 (General Genetics)
- Biology 250 (General Ecology)
With the exception of Biology 111/112 and 250, all laboratory sections meet in the Neyland Biology Annex (NBA).
The General Biology program does not grant degrees; if you are looking for information on Biology degrees or departments, please visit the Division of Biology website.
General Biology policies and contact information for faculty that participate in General Biology can be found to the left. Please explore the ‘Links’ section, and check back from time to time.
