Course Policies
ATTENDANCE
** Laboratory attendance is mandatory. **
ABSENCES: There are NO make-ups for labs and you will lose any quiz or written assignment points awarded for that lab. Please make every effort to attend your lab section.
**Students must attend their registered section.**
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
Students found cheating will have their exams or papers confiscated at the time of infraction, they will be subject to an “F” for the course, and the matter will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct for further action. Students should refer to Hilltopics for University policies and procedures regarding these instances.
SAFETY
There will be NO food, drink or tobacco products used in the lab. NO open-toed shoes can be worn during lab. **You will not be allowed to stay in the laboratory if the lab exercise uses any sort of glassware or chemicals. ** NO purses, bags, or coats on top of the student tables will be allowed.
LAB COATS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL 140 LABS.

Tennessee law requires that you are provided notice that some of the laboratory exercises involve contact with chemicals which have been identified as potential health hazards. These chemicals include, but are not limited to: acetone, methanol, toluene, acids and bases. While every effort has been made to make the materials as safe as possible, these chemicals are toxic and you must be responsible for their safe handling.
If you feel you may be at a higher risk than normal, if pregnant for example, we recommend you consult your physician before taking this course.
