Molecular Biology Resource Facility
We are known more commonly on the University of Tennessee campus as “The Sequencing Lab." The MBRF is a self-supporting core facility specializing in the analysis of DNA using Applied Biosystems’ 3730 and 3100 capillary electrophoresis DNA analyzers. The lab has two working “speed-vacs” and several thermal-cyclers available for use by anyone when necessary.
Our task is to take in client’s sample DNA and process it as rapidly as possible while maintaining high quality data with low recovery costs. We do sequencing for many “outside of UT clients”. Other universities as well as some private companies come to us requesting the sequence of their purified DNA samples. So far, we have not had to turn anyone away. However, we do put the University of Tennessee scientists first in priority.
If you are interested in doing any DNA sequencing or fragment analysis in your experiments, contact Joseph May to discuss the possibilities available for the use of the instrumentation as well as for the reagents that will need to be purchased for the use of the equipment.
The MBRF lab hours are 8:00A - 5:00P Monday thru Friday.
We hope to be able to help you in your future DNA analysis needs, and don’t hesitate to call to ask for advice or help with your project.
